SAMR Model
The SAMR model is a framework that revolutionizes the integration of technology in education, elevating traditional teaching practices to new heights of engagement and effectiveness. SAMR stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition, representing a spectrum of technology integration levels that guide educators in transforming their instructional approaches which were developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura (Kendon & Anselmo, n.d.).

Reflecting on my learning of the SAMR model, it has paved the pave for the transformation of the learning experience through the integration of technology and pedagogy to enhance learning. The most significant aspect of the model learned is that the four stages of the model lead to developing classroom content step by step without complicating or confusing the teacher as well as the learner.
The highlighting effect of the four levels is that the first two levels: substitution and augmentation are focused on enhancing learning while the rest of the levels: modification and redefinition lead to a transformation of teaching and learning.

My learning on the SAMR model led me to rethink how technology plays in each stage reflecting on my prior knowledge.
The SAMR model made me think of how one teaching and learning strategy can be uniquely varied under the four levels. A simple task like writing an essay was put to the test to be more connected to the context of SAMR in depth.
Accordingly, at the initial stage instead of a handwritten essay the learners are advised to type their essay using a software, word Doc and in the augmentation stage the learners can be asked to convert their essay into a Google document where their classmates can make comments or give feedback. Under modification level, the learners can convert the essay into a blog which becomes more open-ended and public, and if we are to redefine the whole activity the blog can be supported by more research and linking and connecting to experts in their final production making it a blog podcast.
How the SAMR model can be integrated into classroom teaching depends on the teacher’s understanding of his learners. Considering the learner’s grade and technological familiarity, the teacher can plan the teaching material. This model can be utilized to design, implement and evaluate learning experiences (Arantes, 2022).
